I've got a KTM 690 RFR (Rally Factory Replica ex Dakar race bike) that's been extensively modified by Lyndon Poskitt for travel rather than racing. It's difficult to insure as most brokers think it's a 690 Enduro and value it as such. I have got it insured at present with Principal but wonder if anybody has any recommendations for a good specialist broker who will do an agreed value on a modified bike please?

Thanks

Have you tried us for insurance yet? If you wanted to drop me a PM I'd be happy to arrange a quotation for you.

Kind Regards
Barry

How about multi bike cover for classics and what do you need to give an agreed valuation? I need to insure my collection again and at a conservative guess there’s well in excess of £30k to cover and probably above £40k if you go by asking prices for similar bikes.

I'll let you know how I get on with Bikesure. I'm insuring 5 bikes ranging from a 1958 BSA A10 to a 2017 1290 Adventure S. Carole Nash's quote is 20% more than last year - no claims, convictions or anything like that. Always get good service from them but they're starting to take the piss!

I ditched CN for my main bike last because they were taking the piss more than ever before by wanting to charge an admin fee to take my KTM 1190 off the policy and add a 1290 GT less than a week before the renewal date. That was before we even started to discuss the agreed valuation on a heavily discounted KTM where I wanted it valued at list price and they said no, it’s costing £11k so that’s the purchase price and if anything happens we work from there. That could easily have left me getting about £9k if it was nicked so the only option would have been paying gap insurance so I went elsewhere.

When I mentioned to CN that my 1290 Adventure now had luggage racks they wanted to charge me for the remaining 5 days of the current policy plus an admin charge! I told them not to bother and I'd remove the racks tonight - what is up with people nowadays, I think companies just seem to try it on all the time!

I'm still with Devitt (via BMW) for 3 bikes but they wouldn't add my 2012 Ducati Monster on to it because their underwriter, ERS, are pulling out of bike insurance. They've quoted me through Aviva but I'm not happy with the price. I also have a 1974 Norton Commando on a separate classic policy; it'd be good to get them all together (I can only ride one at at time) incase I ever get my Guzzi to add on too.

Bikesure have just rang me regarding my insurance and they seemed very efficient. I've currently got a 1958 BSA A10, GasGas Pampera, Beta Xtrainer, Ducati Monster 1100 Evo, KTM 1290 Adventure S and a KTM 500exc that's having a rally fairing put on it all under the same policy. They are coming back to me in the morning so we'll just have to wait and see!

I’m going to have to get a quote for a 350 Ducati, a Kawasaki 750 H2, a Norton Commando 850 MKIIA and a Laverda Montjuic so agreeing valuation is going to be difficult. The Norton is a nice shiny fully restored bike so at least £8k, the H2 is realistically worth £10k no matter what some people ask for them, the Laverda is probably worth about £8k or more if I advertise it in Europe and the 350 Ducati is fuck knows what because it’ll be a fully rebuilt bike that’s a 350 Desmo in all but the cylinder head. The last time one appeared it was a genuine 100% Desmo and the dealer was asking close to £18k :yikes

Probably closer to £40k all in :blast

I'm very interested to here your news.

I've got a '74 Commando, '95 H-D FXSTC, 2012 Monster 1100EVO, 2013 TC GSA, 2015 R NineT - insuring them, all together would be ideal.

I've just off the phone to Bikesure, for ages, so let's see what they offer!
