Top Tip of the day. Buy good kit. 580 miles in rain will expose any deficiencies.

Im in Lidl Boots and a Lidl Adventure Suit from their "Pauper Adventurer" range and thus am as wet as........ (insert your own joke here)

I can't understand why so many on here think nothing on spending £15k+ on a GS/GSA or similar but then buy cheap kit to save a few £100.
There's nothing worse than getting cold and wet on a trip, not to mention should you come off wearing shite kit.........Have a safe trip though !!!

So you think that there actually is a range called "Pauper Adventurer" in Lidl

Good luck finding that tartan paint

I'll do a kit review at end but Klim and Forma get top marks.

You said you arrived cold and wet, which would fit with Lidl kit :p

External mate I was a la swimming pool. Internally I was dry apart from wrists but only because I wear gloves under cuffs and this means no great seal possible.

As I say I'll do a kit review of gear and bike at end.

Hopefully be of use to folk

I've also taken pics of each stage of customs and importing bike etc which hopefully will be of use too 👍👍

My middle name is "tight ass" hence the economy ferry accommodation.

:D

Tighter than a shark's arse at forty fathoms. :p

The Spanish traffic camera picture really gives you something to look forwards to, eh ?

Keep it coming.

That's where people are going wrong.

My winter riding trousers are the far superior Aldi ones.

They've been the warmest and driest bike trousers I've ever owned. :thumb

That's what I like to see.

A proper paper map with highlighter pen markings. :beerjug:

Erm...I see you've found my place near the bottom of it. :D

Day 4.

Morocco Day.

So woke at Daves to sunshine. Hooray.

Headed off towards Malaga then right turn West to Algeceras.

Lovely lovely and then rain.

And rain.

And rain.

All way to ferry and indeed whilst buying ticket and going through security.

It properly lashed down to the point where I nearly pulled over the roads were that flooded.

Anyway. Bought ticket at offices, piece of cake.

My advice.

Don't bother with,

"oh theres a bloke called Bill who's sister used to date a bloke who used to own a R80, which used to belong to Elvis, and who lives in a cave near Lidl and can save you 20p, ...............if he's in when you turn up...................",

just head to ferry port.

Ignore the hawkers trying to help at the port. Im sure if you can get yourself and a bike to S Spain you can manage to enter a ticket office and buy a ticket without getting arrested or jailed.

Lots of ferries and zero hassle getting ticket. Ive found that the Trans Red ones are cheapest. Circa 50 quid.

The port folk took pity on the 3 bikes there and held us under shelter until ready to board then straight on non stop.

UK ports take note, a little bit of thought goes a long way.

3 bikes on board. 1 x German chap and 1 x Swiss. Older BMW and a KTM. Nice blokes and handy for mutual kit security whilst doing paperwork and poo.

As you can see.

Grim as we steam past Gib.

Crossing a bit rough. 90 deg of bank at this stage, happily I glued my boots and helmet to the floor.

Looks a bit brighter as we approach Morocco.

Looking forward to better weather.........

Managed to hurt my helmet on ferry wall too. annoying.

Thought Id cover getting into Morocco . If done better elsewhere I apologise.....

As I see it there are 2 steps.

1. You. Go to desk on ferry and if not been before you'll get a stamp like in photo with your number on it (the 10598 etc one) after filling out a small white form on board. All piece of cake.

I already had my number but still go to immigration desk on ferry as he will stamp you in there and then.

For whatever reason most people seem to think that this needs to be done within 0.00000000005 seconds of boarding and thus huge queue.

We waited until 15 mins out and presto no queue.

Zero dramas and easy.

2. Importing your Bike.

Again use the forms on line and cut into 3 pieces.

On arrival in Morocco present the following as required......

V5
Passport with stamp
Vehicle paperwork.

Of the 3 pieces regarding vehicle.....

I gave all 3 pre cut and stapled together.

They keep one, give you back 2. (One to exit and one to keep) Don't lose as exiting will be a total pain no doubt.

I did vehicle paperwork in UK and it took me 15 mins to get through and into Morocco. Piece of piss.

If anyone needs further let me know.

Basically follow Tim Cullis post and its easy.

Thats the form to fill in on the ferry for immigration.

I used Fez and Hotel Fez, thus saving valuable ink and time

For occupation the shortest I could think of was oik

The whole deal of getting yourself and Bike into country is straightforward enough if you've got your shit in one pile.

Oh BTW, its still raining in land Im told...........

As you exit security there are a line of cabins at Tangier Med.

Cashpoint and Insurance time.

I got the standard 10 days Ins for around 70 quid.

Again easy peasy japaneezy.

Insurance and Wedge offices.

I found Tangier Med way easier and more organised than Cueta.

Its modern and feels more professional if Im honest.

Its certainly the easiest transition to country Ive had.

Thats the port I would head for again for sure

This is the Insurance Document

I dread to think what sort of cake and arse cluster party it would be if you had a prang with a local.........but at least you're legal I guess.

Considering most Moroccans seem to have had Stevie Wonder as their driving instructor, this is one item I definitely wouldn't skimp on, even though I never got asked to show it, despite riding through at least 50 police checkpoints
