The group was a mixture of GS'ers (me, Chris, Chris H, Bear, steady Steve and Shaun) plus some lads from TRF

Chris's plan was to roughly follow the Pennine way from Edale to the Scottish Borders

We set off on Friday from the Peaks to Leyburn and did 200 odd miles without seeing a town (despite being near Huddersfield and Halifax) as Chris is a master of finding the smallest roads that exist and Friday's route was a cracker

We even found a vineyard in Huddersfield of all places and stopped for refreshment

The BEAR 🐻 gets his mojo back

Overnight stop was at or near the Bolton Arms at Redmire near Leyburn

Good food and beer

We were greeted by perfect skies in the morning

Going north over the Catterick tank roads, we crossed over the 66 and into Teesdale where the roads are traffic free around Stanhope

Next tea stop was at Whitfield where Tour Dad Chris enjoyed a piece of the largest Lemon cake in the North Pennines

Next to the tea rooms was a log yard where the Bear spied his supplies for next winter and planned a future raid

We soon crossed over into Scotland after refuelling in Haltwhistle - going up via Newcastleton and onto Eskdalemuir

The roads in the Borders are shocking with deep craters - big enough to lose a wheel into - be warned

Late lunch was at another GS 'er fave - the cafe at St Mary's Loch

Sunday was a quiet meander down via Keilder

Short and sweet - a 600 mile weekend on some of the north's finest little used roads - thanks to organiser Chris and everyone who took part

And everyone wants to travel overseas when you have all that stunning scenery, really enjoyed the read, and the pictures do actually reflect on the people.
