Way back in about 2006/7 we did a tour in Scotland with some other GSers from the NE.
Whilst out & about, possibly in the Pitlochry/Glenshee area, we all stopped for lunch in a restaurant that was everything we Southerners thing of as "Scotland". Wood cabin decor, log fires & tartan everywhere.

Does anyone recognise/know if this place is still around? If so whats it called & where exactly is it please?

We are passing through in a couple of days & fancied calling in.

Appreciate some local knowledge,
Thank You :) :thumb2

When did the Blackwater Lodge close?
I've eaten in there before.

Little further over but is this it?

Stopped here a couple of weeks ago, as Redrick was keen to stop at Cock Bridge for some reason.

This one was a nice little stop off with log burner in the middle of it

Or maybe a bit far the other way this one at Dunkeld.

Thanks guys...appreciate all your responses👍 I think it was most likely the one that burnt down....so that's off the itinerary 😳

Helloooo to you Mike O 🙋 xxx

About 200 years ago....going by the look of it.

For those that remember it the barmy american who owned it still lives next door. It was finally sold last year to his daughter and son in law. They were doing it up to live in and rear pygmy goats(?!). The poor s i l dropped dead at 57 not long after. The daughter is still there and you can see the goats as you wizz by.

Try the moulin hotel just outside Pitlochry, wooden walls, smoky peat fire and attached to its own brewery. We stay there every year, decor is a bit tired but it’s Scotland to a tee

Mr Google found these images, from somewhere called ukgser.

Closed. Part burned down, rest vandalised.

If you just want lunch then Braemar has a few options; The Bothy is very popular and is attached to the outdoor shop there. There’s a Bistro next door but I’ve never seen it open during the day.
If you are on the South side of Glenshee there’s a decent pub on the left as you come into Blairgowrie.

I think there is definitely a good business opportunity for someplace between Blair and Braemar or at least before the chairlifts.

On another matter, wasn't it the case the Spittal hotel wasn't insured ?? Never really heard much more about it ??
