I need as disc lock for travel where no anchor point for chain. What is the best option ( aside from the butter in the fridge, etc.).

TIA

Sometimes when I find myself in that suitation I pass a chain from the center stand to the front wheel therefore making it impossible to take the bike off the stand and of course also locking the front wheel. I don’t like disc locks. JJH

Abus 8077 has lasted me 3 years so far of pretty much daily use and hasn't had any problems. Get what you pay for.

this is Thatcham approved and doubles up as a padlock if needed

2x abus granit detecto 8077. One on each disc of the front wheel.

Thanks, will look into that but I’m after something that I can use on any bike if possible. A couple of bikes don’t have the centre stand.

If you are going to have a disc lock then this is the one, it is really solid and alarmed, you have to get it on the bike quickly, make a few practices before as to not set off the alarm, but it is the best in my opinion, the round disc lock from Abus does not fit anywhere on our 1200 gs LC discs, I tried that first and sent it back, great quality build but could not fit to the bike, my setup ABus 8008 and road lok for light travelling.

I have the Abus 8077 detector and was content with it til someone posted a picture of the disc itself having been sliced with an angle grinder. A disc lock isn't much help once the disc itself has a gap where the lock was! :(

Thanks, I’ve ordered a 8008 and the chain. Seemed most flexible option.

The need for motorcycle security is a foreign concept for me. This thread proved very useful.

Think I may fit the Roadlok for those quick trips to Tesco and something with an alarm added when traveling.

Rather like the idea of an alarmed padlock chain to front wheel and centre stand for the second option.

PS: F800GSA would be the recipient of said locks.
