Fuel filters unlucky or just crap design?

I don't think changing the filter is on the KTM service sheet. There is a fuel pressure test though. I guess if that is low, they change the filter?

Yes, they rely on pressure test, but need dealer diagnostic kit to do, in my mind worth changing with tapper service to be sure.

Ktm filters may clog, but keep pumps and injectors safe, I believe the GS ones won't clog easily but pump more likely to get screwed.
 
My understanding is that the pump tends to fail as it overheats when the filters get blocked. Free flowing filters one way or the other seems to be the answer.
