    R1200RT LC Engine Oil

    Hi Nick

    What oil is recommended these days for top up on the RT LC engines?

    Price please for a litre / 4lts of the stuff.

    5w 40 fully synth - Shell oil re-badged BMW.

    Hi Rich,

    Oddshapedballs is spot on. The recommended oil for your K52 R1200RT is 5w40 fully synthetic which BMW supply in 1 litre bottles (BMW Advantec Ultimate 5W40, made by Shell) and retails for £17.26 inc vat per litre. Unfortunately BMW do not supply in 4/5litre containers, the next size up from the 1 litre bottles is a 209 litre barrel.. some what excessive for just doing home servicing.
