hi,the screen is about the only thing i cant seem to get right on the 1090,at 6.4 and with a 2 piece seat in the high position on the R,i have tried the taller standard screen and the short one in all positions and with spacers but to no avail so have any of you guys had this problem and did you solve it?

thanks

loz

Best solution i found on my old 1190 was to use the full mask and screen off the 1290T with an MRA X-creen clip on spoiler. the later 1290 SAS/R are much better to start with.

Loz, I've got a puig touring screen on my 1290 s, and find it good at what it's supposed to do but looks quite big when fitted.

I’m 6’ tall and wasn’t happy with the original screen on my 1190 so bought the Puig one and found that with the screen at mid height it was as good as it gets for me. I could easily ride at 80mph with the visor up which is the benchmark for me when it comes to removing turbulence.

I think I may be weird 'cos I really have no issue with the small screen, set at it's lowest on my R.

I have though, also got a Puig with the lip thing on it. This gets used in the winter on wet M-Way hauls and was used once on a trip down to Spain. TBH I wouldn't use it again on a Spain type trip 'cos as I prefer to be in the breeze it worked too well and I didn't enjoy being in still air.

Winter M-Ways are another matter though and that's what it gets used for now.
The lip thing is IMO the bit that does the job :)

hi mate, yes love the bike except for the buffering...andres screen looks good

I have tried most;

Stock - OK to relieve some wind blast, and nice in summer for fresh air, but I get all the bugs on my visor

Super Adventure - Did not work great for me, but I did not have the matching mask

Givi Airflow - Worked great on GS and Yamaha S10, but gave a fair bit of buffeting on the 1190

KTM Touring - Not bad if you are short enough, I am over 6 foot and like the seat in the high position, this works quite well, but I still get quite a lot of bug splats, but for general use I like this screen

Puig Touring with deflector - HUGE and a bit ugly, but I can ride all day and barely have any crap on my visor with it in the top position, but even in the low position it is high and for a lot of folk it will be right in their eye line all the time. I fit this for long tours and revert to KTM touring when at home.

is that that same one as andres

Yes, he is right, you don't get much breeze even with it fully down, but I like it because it keeps flies of the visor and is great on the long motorway slogs out / back.

Whatever you go for will be a compromise as the bike does not have much adjustment, certainly not enough to switch between the Goldwing like isolation I want on the Motorway and the wind in my face R-Model preference I have when travelling much slower on a sunny day in the Alps....

...I have found the best thing to do is stand up now and again to get a cooling breeze, also angling the wind deflector things backwards causes it to blast air in my face, it is a bit much at speed, but helps at lower speeds and in town if I want a bit of fresh air.

OK Loz, I lied, my screen is a MRA screen which came with the adjustable spoiler thing on top.

None of the paper work has any model number anywhere within but the screen has got a ref number printed on it...........

is the spoiler adjustable mate

I always check where the wind flow is going by just holding my hand in front of my face to see where the buffeting starts at about 70mph then either raise or lower the screen until it’s where I want it without the screen being in the way if I want to look at something closer to the front bike.

I’ve put a set of Tobinators on the 1150 I recently purchased and with them standing vertical and the screen in the highest position that turbulence has been lifted about 6” for a screen lift of 2” so they work pretty well :thumb2

I have a smoked ktm touring screen in my loft if you want it , it’s off my 1190 , I’ve no use for it if you pay the postage you can have it

is the spoiler adjustable mate

Yup :)

The picture of my bike earlier in the thread shows it completely down and it goes up in 'clicks'. In the top position the base of the spoiler is the same height as the top of the screen.
