I'm struggling to update my iPad Air 2 to IOS 11

It's currently running IOS 9.3.5

There are no previous uninstalled updates stored on the device. There is plenty of battery and it's plugged into the mains. WiFi signal is at full strength with a 200MB Virgin Media connection to the outside world.

It checks for an update and shows me IOS 11, but after clicking download and install it just hangs and displays the hamster wheel.

Any advice?

Try connecting it to a PC or Mac running iTunes. I have found that I can often get the upgrade to work via iTunes when over the air upgrades fail.

On googling a suggestion is that if you had a previous beta version installed it would block updates unless disabled

I Googled and read that before posting here, hence why I checked for uninstalled updates.

Only thing I have not tried is iTunes way of upgrading as I don't have access to a decent computer at present.

Genius Bar appointment at the apple store?
Or just walk in with it and ask if you can try it over their Wi-fi before making the appointment.

Thanks for the replies. It’s a mystery, but I’ve managed to do the update in iTunes using a mates laptop. First time I’ve had an issue,
