MANDELLO DE LARIO - Everything is ready for the 97th Moto Guzzi Gathering at the start from tomorrow, September 7th, but an appetizer of events is already scheduled tonight, Thursday, at the municipal theater with the conference "Moto Guzzi and its territory: studies and projects for the future "where will be a degree thesis on the Lariano brand and projects for the enhancement of the Mandellese motoristic heritage.

One of the two project proposals that will be illustrated has been set up by a group of professionals consisting of architect Roberto Riva, geometraFabio Camisasca, architect Erminia Gabriele, surveyor Gabriele Riva and Roberta Battaglia graphics. The pool of technicians will present an idea designed to create a new museum dedicated to mopeds made in the Moto Guzzi factory. The new museum building, a new technological building in the forms and materials called "Museum of Eagles", will not replace the current Guzzi Museum but will support it.

The first step was to identify the ideal place to build the building: it is necessary to be in the center of the Guzzi town, which is easily accessible by public or private means, which also gives the opportunity to observe the wonders of our territory and finally that can increase the available parking spaces also in anticipation of an increase in the flow of tourism. In Mandello, a single area has these characteristics and lends itself to welcoming the project: the area between the station and the Guzzi plant.

The second step is represented by the search for the guzzista icon that is recognized by all Mandello citizens and by motorcyclists from all over the world as a symbol of Moto Guzzi.
The answer was found in the competition class 500 of the World Championship: the 8 cylinder of 1954/57.

The last design step was the definition of the architectural form: observing the 8-cylinder, the Eagle Museum was designed.

The building consists of two towers (north and south) of five floors above ground and a central body of four ground pianifuori, the various floors of each tower are connected to each other by helical ramps. The materials that compose it are all technological: steel and glass mainly with the exception of the structure that will be in reinforced concrete. In roofing you will have a hanging garden that can be taken from the local refreshment bar located on the top floor of the south tower, with a view over the current Moto Guzzi factory, again to symbolize the proximity of past, present and future.

The choice of transparent material that particularly characterizes the south tower allows the visitor to observe the new collection of motorcycles from the outside and while following the museum itinerary will be able to take a look at the origins and history of the motorcycle company. Surely the most important view is that from above where the building is designed as an almost faithful reproduction of the historic 8-cylinder: the green draws the bell-shaped hull, the north tower the rear tire of the bike, the bar / refreshment juts out the front of the vehicle and the central body draws the space occupied by the tank, the chassis and the engine. Complete the design a structure that highlights the number 1 of the racing bike inside the green in coverage.

The visitor will be escorted to the north tower and then through the ramps and lifts to the upper floors can admire year by year the motorcycles made by Moto Guzzi, on the third and fourth floor there will be an expansion of the museum hall towards the central body , with rooms dedicated to prominent models. On the fifth floor you will pass, through a covered connection, from one tower to another, you will reach the refreshment point where you can take a break enjoying a panoramic view and then resume and descend the ramps, on the fourth floor pass for a further expansion of the museum spaces, resume the descent admiring the motorcycles always arranged according to a precise chronological order, towards the ground floor and the exit.

The destination is a design choice to leave the first floor or the library and the media room outside the exhibition path, for a fruition of history and its study a little away and in complete tranquility.
