Took the XCountry out for a bimble today, and when I pulled up outside the garage door, I noticed smoke drifting up from the left hand side of the engine. Further investigation showed that side of the engine to be covered in oil, which appears to be coming out from either the rocker box cover, or possibly a pipe which seems saturated in the stuff.

Anyone had a similar issue and know the best way to fix it?

Check that furry oil pipe. They can wear through from vibration(i forget what they rub against but i've replaced one on mine due to this)

Now it's cooled down and I've had a prod, I was wondering about that too. I thought it was just a breather, but it might be a return pipe under pressure. Was it a bastard to replace, got some little clips hidden away on the ends?

Perhaps the furryness is to reduce wear?

Thanks!

Or cooling? Added surface area to help cooling on its way north?
