When I've been out off roading, rocks and mud have me over time and time again. While I'm learning and using the bike.

On three occasions now I've dropped the bike on the right hand side (not fast, just topple overs) and ANY forward momentum has bent the brake pedal backwards. It's a pain in the ass as I get home remove the pedal and bash the b'Jezus out of it to get it straight again...

I've seen lots of off-road YouTube Africa Twin riders all doing the same thing, and bending the brake pedal backwards...

It happens so easily, and so often, I now carry a spare brake pedal !!

Anyways, on my last ride-out it happened again, so I bought a Zeta Trigger Lever. It supposedly has better alloy and a deflector spring loaded base.

So whether this will :-

a) Work as intended and be a good investment
b) Just snap off completely leaving me with no pedal at all
c) Have absolutely no effect whatsoever....

I don't know

Oh, and just to add....

The CamelAdv Footpeg and Exhaust shield works a treat !!

I've got chunks gouged out on it where it's deflected rocks. I have no doubts it is doing its job in preventing the offside footpeg being smashed clean off !!

Thumbs up from me. :thumb:thumb:thumb

Oh, and the Altrider crash bars and skid plates are also doing a brilliant job keeping my oil in the engine and everything working.

Another thumbs up from me :thumb:thumb:thumb

It's a heavy bike

Things bend and break (brake) when they fall over

I would think the Zeta pedal will just snap off in a heavy fall, as they are only cast

Folding metal tip only usually helps when upright and brushing past rocks/tree roots etc...............in my experience.

Personally I would keep the old steel oem pedal and put a short, sturdy 'brake snake', back to that crashbar mount and that would be more (just as) effective, maybe

And if you are interested, I got my larger footpegs off eBay for £ 14.99 for the pair !!

1 Pair WIDE foot pegs for Honda CR80R/85R XR250 XR400 XR600R XR650R Pedal

Yeah that's a thought in the back of my mind. I'll just have to test it and see how I get on with it.

I've still got a spare original brake pedal in my panniers, so I'll just carry that in case (it's lightweight enough).

Try a 'brake snake'

Maybe one of these will help

I'm going to be changing my tires soon as these Metzeller Karoo 3 tyres are CRAP in the mud

Going to try Continental TKC80 on the front and a Mitas E-09 ??

One of the TRF lads sent me this screenshot of one of their members review on tyres.

He also found the Karoo 3 tyres to be BAD in the wet and mud (as I have found since)...

He is making his own chart and views on the tyres hes used so far.

Thanks Guys,

That is good information cheers :bow :thumb:thumb:thumb

I'll keep the Karoo 3 tyres for dry road and dry green lane days in Summer, as they are great for that.

I'll get some MT-21 or TKC80's for the front and Mitas E-09 for the rear, for everything else during Winter or Mud and stuff.

I'll switch the tyres over myself depending what I'm riding into that day.

Another combination of tyres I'm reading good stuff about is...

MT-21 front and Dunlop D606 rear... especially for mud?
