Hi all. :)

Just got back from a week in Switzerland. Never been this late in the year before and it was certainly worth it! :thumb2

More to follow. :beerjug:

The locals where saying that its not unusual for the weather to be this good in the mountains in October because as things cool down the weather becomes more settled. Kind of makes sense to me. :)

This trip came about as a very good friend of mine had arrived in Lauterbrunnen (just south of Interlaken) in his Hymer to spend the winter there. He had a very difficult year and was just planning to relax and chill out and perhaps doing some skiing once the season starts. I had a week off work so last Monday grabbed at few belongings packed my camera in my tankbag and headed for the Tunnel.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/151886996@N06/45491007071/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0513 (Edited)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1954/45491007071_568ebecd0b_c.jpg" width="600" height="800" alt="IMG_0513 (Edited)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I had booked a cheap Hotel in Calais and set off the following morning at 7am.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/151886996@N06/45491023851/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0519 (Edited)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1969/45491023851_dcb509a5a7_c.jpg" width="800" height="600" alt="IMG_0519 (Edited)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

22 degrees riding down through France. Time to strip off a bit. :D

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/151886996@N06/44578027615/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0528 (Edited)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1961/44578027615_365c2cc1e6_c.jpg" width="600" height="800" alt="IMG_0528 (Edited)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

First stop in Switzerland for fuel and next door to the pumps - ahem.. not the kind of mountain scenery I was expecting? :nenau
Window shopping only I'm afraid. :p

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/151886996@N06/45491913791/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0523 (Edited)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1906/45491913791_2cb17f6136_c.jpg" width="800" height="600" alt="IMG_0523 (Edited)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Reached Lauterbrunnen just as the sun was setting.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/151886996@N06/44765848254/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0619"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1920/44765848254_12b40a76ce_c.jpg" width="800" height="600" alt="IMG_0619"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Right. By Thursday morning I was ready to roll again and the weather was set fair with all the big passes open. :bounce1

I was up with the lark (nearly) and headed for the Sustenpass.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/151886996@N06/43674467410/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0621 (Edited)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1965/43674467410_b04897b7c5_c.jpg" width="600" height="800" alt="IMG_0621 (Edited)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Pretty quiet. Which is good. :thumb2

The famous "Heart Shaped Lake". Which made me think of Andres xx :hippy

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/151886996@N06/45491116981/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0629 (Edited)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1919/45491116981_35c4a17c0d_c.jpg" width="800" height="600" alt="IMG_0629 (Edited)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Time for coffee. :)

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/151886996@N06/45491149771/in/dateposted-public/" title="IMG_0639 (Edited)"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1903/45491149771_997d4ed9d7_c.jpg" width="800" height="600" alt="IMG_0639 (Edited)"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Those that know me will remember that a couple of years ago I had a rather embarrassing faux pas in the French Alps with a GSA and some wet concrete. :(

I can now categorically state that I had absolutely nothing to do with this calamity. :blast :D

There is normally a F**K Up on most of my trips and an alcoholic induced plan was being hatched that night in the bar.

The site caretaker (Barry from Manchester) had an old Suzuki Bandit that he hadn't used for six months but offered it to Dave so he could ride the passes with me on the Friday. I was given the job of charging it up overnight with Barry's old crocodile clip trickle charger whilst the other two drank more beer in the bar.

I swear now that it all appeared to be golden and we looked forward to the ride the next day. :thumb2

Good news and bad news followed... Good news first. It started on the first push of the button the following morning. Bad news. "Click Click Click" it went sat on top of the Grimsel pass. :blast

Going up it went like a breeze. :)

Whilst Dave nearly pulled the whole bike apart just to check there was nothing else obvious apart from the battery I assisted by wondering off to take some more pictures of the Grimsal. :thumb2
