Has anyone else experienced speaker failure on their Sena ??

This is now the second failure I've had with their 10U unit with a failure in one speaker, but this time a couple months out of warranty.

If it is just the actual speaker that has failed rather than part of the units electronics would you not be better off just removing the speaker and splicing in a new one onto the wiring , few articles on the internet and Sena do replacemet speakers for some of its units that could be adapted to fit whilst others have simply used a speaker or speakers from a set of similar sized headphones

I’ve been trying to find a specialist repairer for this sort of thing. It is very fine electronics! I’d have a go myself if I could find the connectors on their own.

Spoke online chat to SENA last night and told me that due to this unit being a replacement, it's out of warranty as there is no warranty extension on replacement, on the plus side, the vendor has asked me to return it under warranty and will send it to SENA for testing so no butchering for now.

Ive got a scala Smartpack and its always had one dodgy speaker and it was a broken connection on the speaker end so I repaired it myself it was a matter of just re-solding the wire just cost me the cost of a soldering iron

I've watched a couple of these vids about fitting a new speaker, though how do I know it's just the speaker ?

On the SMH5, SMH10 units there is a jackplug on the helmet base unit where you can plug in a radio input but you can also plug in earbuds and you can find out if the unit is U/S or of it just an individual speaker

Not on the 10u you can't unfortunately. If it was the unit then surely both speakers would stop working rather than just the one, the most bizarre thing is this is the exact same fault as my previous 10U.

No it's a stereo unit so you can have a fault on one speaker but not the other and it be the unit that's at fault. I've been using my 10U for a few years and it's been fine, it does seem odd you've had a repeat problem.

No help really, but I think sena have a quality problem. I have had to send my SENA 10S DUO back for the second time.
First time when in storage the batteries would lose charge within 3 weeks. Which was replaced with a new set.
Second time one unit will not turn on so they said it will have to be sent back to sena.

Very odd, the woman at the online chat thought so also. It's been shipped back to the vendor so will see what happens, if they say sorry, out of warranty I'll just get it back and try and fit a different speaker, nothing to lose I guess.
