Hi

I doubt that my Alternator is 100% operational so I need to remove it & check/replace the voltage regulator.
The conventional wisdom of getting to the alternator is to remove the ABS pump. However members of this parish have mentioned that with some knucle skin and a crowbar it is possible to remove without removing said pump.
Well Ive looked and I cant immediately see how it is possible without pump removal since the limited area is crossed with a brake line and removal of the electrical conectors & Motronic unit I doubt that there would be enough provision of space for removal. Or does the "enhanced" procedure require the removal of part of the upper subframe ?
Heres hoping...

Its easy enough and you can do it without removing the ABS

You need to undo one of the steel diagonal tubes and the connections, the 3 front bolts the belt and the coil and it will wiggle out

Watching those vids online will only give you a headache!!

Using a known good multimeter you can check the alternator in situ!

Diagnose first!!! Dismantle after an inspection has been performed!
