This Winter's G650X Project

I've never posted on the "Jethro Thread" nor have I been to Bicton

I think JohnnyBoxer has it right !

OOPS. Sobriety is overrated though. :beerjug: :D

I do beg your pardon. Apologies to Johnnyboxer too, how could I confuse a Cornishman with a Geordie. Unforgivable! One and All. :thumby:

So a few more parts bolted on

Brakes to bleed and chain to fit tomorrow

Then add oil and antifreeze , put on the new battery and then plug in the GS-911 and makes sure everything is OK

If everyting is fine should get it fired up tomorrow

Just need the seat and the panels then to finish it off

Brakes all bled and chain fitted

Oil and antifreeze in , battery connected

Plugged in the GS-911 and everything OK with no error codes

Hit the start button and fired straight up and purring like a kitten

Let it up run up to temperature and checked the fan kicked in

Re-checked oil level and for any leaks and all OK

Let it cool down and now covered up until the end of January when I get the painted panels back and the custom seat

I will post a few final pictures once fully finished

Hi Neil - i use BettaBlast over in Shiremoor - if you decide to use them ask to speak to Bill

http://www.bettablast.co.uk/home.html

Thanks for that , wonder if they have changed hands in the last 10 years or so .................... I used them extensively in the 80's and they were very good then about 10 years ago they had 3 failed attempts to try a do the frame on my 1100 Katana and utterly f*cked it up on each try including leaving blast media in the original finish, only lacquering the silver on half the frame etc.

After the 3rd attempt they had blasted it so aggresively that they damaged the frame welds and I ended up having to have the frame redone by another specialist who first mounted the frame into a jig and TIG welded all of the damaged welds.

Might pop down and have a word as I've got an XR250 and a 650 Versys frame I want coated

I've used then regularly for bike parts for the last 4 years or so and have been very pleased with them and have had no issues whatsoever

You don't have issues?

I would say, looking at that work in progress, you definitely have 'issues'! :D

You are right - the issues I have are the painter and seat upholsterer not being able to keep pace with my speed of build !

A trip to both of them later in the week to check on progress

In the meantime fitted the mirrors , bar risers , LED indicator resistors and hand guards

It's about time you did something more important, like dry-lining your walls! :) Happy New Year!
