Could anyone please help with how to complete the set up of my Sena SMH10 to my 2015 BMW R1200RT LC which has a built- in audio system, along with a BMW navigator 6 GPS and my Sony Xperia smartphone?
I have successively connected the units so far as follows using Sena user’s guide:
1) SMH10 to Bike…..As 7.1 A2DP.
2) SMH10 to Navigator 6 GPS….As 7.2 HFP.
3) Sony mobile to Navigator 6….As manufactures instructions.
With above set up I can receive to my helmets SMH10: “The bike’s audio/ radio”…..”Turn by turn instructions from Navigator 6 GPS mounted on bike”….”Make and receive calls from my smartphone”….”Intercom conversations with other Sena headsets” .

However I’m unable to receive any MP3 music on my helmets SMH10 (a file named MP3 on an sd card within Nav 6)from my Navigator 6. When Media Player app is activated on my Navigator 6 it displays “An A2DP Bluetooth headset must be connected to listen to music”.
Can you possibly assist me?

Surely 2 is wrong in that you have paired it as HFP protocol instead of A2DP

If it were me, I would move the mp3 files from the Nav 6 onto a cheapo USB memory stick, which I would then plug into the USB port in the right hand cubby. One can control the music selected from the wonderwheel.

Right this is gonna sound stupid but, go into the garmin folder on your nav ( through a computer) and create a folder and call it mp3, I did this on mine and it cured it. I didn’t need to put a track in it but some say you do.

Many thanks for your comments.
At present I've put mp3 music on a USB memory stick and plugged into the bikes USB port and all is working fine. I did create an mp3 folder within the garmin folder but this didn't work for me. After reading the reply below from Sena I'm considering the purchase of a Sena 20S BT unit. Anyone got one for sale? Unless anyone has workable information?

A reply email from Sena support as follows, which maybe of interest to others.

thank you for contacting the SENA support.

This is right, the HFP pairing for your Navsat only supports the turn-by-turn prompts.
If you want to listen to musik through your Navsat, your Navsat needs to pe paired as Mobilephone.

I can not really say which Audio Profile the BMW needs to send the Information to the Headset.

The SENA SMH10 only has got these pairing modes:
• Mobilephone Pairing (A2DP and HSP/HFP)
• Selected Mobilephone Pairing (HSP/HFP)
• Media Pairing (A2DP)

The Navsat needs HSP/HFP for the Turn-By-Turn Navigation.
For Media Playback, it also needs A2DP.

Now there is a stalemate!
I think the BMW also needs A2DP for Playback, but there is only one Bluetooth Chip into the device able to playback A2DP.

You would need a 10S or 10R or 10U with two Mobilephone Pairing options to handle the connections.

Or you think about a newer Headset with Two Bluetooth Chips, for Example the 20S or a SRL.
Also the 30K for large Groups would be able to handle these two connections.

Without buying a new SENA, you need to decide for the priority of your BMW or the Navsat, because only one of them both will be able to playback a A2DP Audio with your Setup.

You will probably have to choose one of them.
