I took my 2016 RT it off the road for a few weeks and did a nook & cranny clean.
The only things effected by its 91000km was the engine paint and the brake calipers sticking a bit.
Paint sorted by BMW.
I had a couple of sticky front brake pistons a few months back so instead of servicing i managed to get almost new front calipers off a 18 GS from a big breakers in Italy. €220 delivered complete with the near new brake pads and brake hoses.

This time around I had a slightly sticky rear piston. The rear calipers on all the BMW's are the same 2 piston jobbies.
I popped out the offending piston and seals cleaned up the seating and put in a piston and seals from a low mileage 06 GS caliper. I had lying around.

I wanted to add spots and I had a pair of these:

Really high quality lights these.

I needed to make brackets so had a mooch around and found some CBX fairing stays that I dont use.
Fec, They are almost the same as the BMW brackets. I made up some ends and they were good to go.

I made billet covers for my TC GSA back in 2010 and still had a bunch of there lovely individual LED lights so I made up down lights. 4 on each side of the bike, I even popped one into the glove box.

I wire my lights with a small Toyota relay powered from the battery. I switch the relay with a signal from the back of the ACC socket. This results in the spots staying on for 1 minute after i switch off the ignition. Very handy.

My new down lights were only a bit of bling but they work well and illuminate the hard to see side stand.

This motorcycle is running beyond perfect, an absolute dream to ride, Quick and smooth,
The Akra headers is the best thing you can do with these bikes, a lovely deep sound.
My new lights work great.

I also shoe horned in a YTS 20 battery from Halfords seems to hold up better than the YTS 16 when the bike is parked up.
