Since acquiring the 9T Classic i have been looking at the various methods , mine is the 2017 on with the machined cast rims on spokes,
The outex tubeless kit got me looking, then i found a few people are using the 3m tape,
yesterday i took the rear tyre off and cleaned the rim with brake cleaner, and applied two layers of 3M 4111N extreme tape 50 mm wide, this stuff is very strong and flexible with super sticky adhesive,
its held pressure and pretty sure it will last, the weight of the tube and rim band were pretty heavy,
I recall Boxerlust mentioning lighter wheels being a benefit ,
so looking forward to running to a tyre change then do the front if all is well at that point,
i accept there are risks, but many have done thousands of miles on temporary tyre repairs with no reported deaths, i do like the wheels so this is my path,,
Roamer,

I did mine over a year ago and done a few thousand miles since. They don't loose any pressure and had no problems. I used marine grade silicone around the spoke ends and then 3M airtight tape.

Good to know others have had sucess Billy,
I watched many u tube videos and reviews initially considering outex,
I had the sealant ready,
when i tested a sample of the tape i was amazed how good it was, so went without,
The second layer was mostly to protect from fitting tyres damaging the tape at the high spots,
The outex base tape appeared to be difficult to lay without creases and bubbles,
Possibly due to the stiff backing tape as its double sided,
The single sided tape was very easy to work with the separation tape removed before and during application,

Having had a front tube blow two years ago I dont really have much faith in tubed tyres. So when I bought my Thruxton R I had Doug Richardson at Devon Wheel Building work his magic on the wheels. He basically just used the hubs and replaced the rims and spokes with stainless steel. Great job and fab looking wheels. I am about to take ownership of a R9T with spoked rims and tubed tyres. I contacted Doug and he can do the convertion for £250. He suggested adding stainless spokes and nipples at £150 per wheel. I will get him to do the job once I have aquired the funds. I did have the money but yielded into temptation and bought a new bike instead of a second hand one, get it in 3 weeks, 3 very long weeks.

Enjoy the new R9 T,
removing the tubes has made a difference , plus puncture anxiety is less,
I am surprised how well the standard metzeler tyres wear,

Here are some photos of the 3 m tape applied to my 2018 spoked wheels,
They havent lost any air since converting, the 5.5 mtr roll is enough to do 2 layers with some to spare,
As mentioned peel the backing off makes it very flexible and stretchy,
Just work into position with finger pressure, the contact can be seen through the tape, the buffer tool does help,
Weight is negligible compared to the tube,

I used the same 3M tape and 3M marine sealant on my AT, worked second time round, gonna do the same on my tenere if and when I can be arsed.

I see no pint in adding a second layer though, all you're doing is taping over tape, it wouldn't stop a previous leak if there was one with the first layer.

Rear wheel, 50 mm tape is plenty,

The second layer was to provide protection when fitting the tyre pushing into the well of the rim, and, pinching the slightly raised spokes,
One layer would do it though it is tough stuff, as you will know,
but without sealant which was my preference, the pinch factor was the main reason,
and it works for me,
Lots of cheap easy ways , mine is one yours is another that works,
