Just had a letter through from those nice KTM people at Silverstone

The old style 1290 SA is subject to a safety recall for possible leaky fuel tanks, around the seat area due to possible poor moulding.

Hopefully it wont be a repeat of the superduke ethanol tank dissapointment a few years back.
They blamed that on poor moulding ?

Received my letter yesterday too.

Spoke with my dealer this morning to book the inspection.

He reassured me that if there isn’t a pool of fuel on the floor by the centre stand, or a strong smell of fuel near the front of the rider seat, then all is probably ok.

Same thing happened to me on my 1190 new tank replaced under warranty common problem

Right here's the SP

There is a batch of tanks (all are individually serial numbered) where an insert near the front weeps and or leaks.
If your tank is in this batch then they will try a new insert first, and if that fails you get a new tank.
You can only see the serial number if you flip the tank upside down.
