Reg/rex replacement?

Hello folks, has anyone replaced the Gs regulator and seperate rectifier with a combined unit like the electrex unit?. I need a new battery and was looking at the conversion to see if it's a better system.
Let me know any good or bad points please....
What is the ideal battery for this conversion also please.....

You lose the tell tale dash lamp So unless you install a voltage monitor you won;t know you are not charging until it stops

You really need to install the Electrex unit somewhere it can cool, I made this installation on Desert Storm

I have found Motobatt batteries to be great for airheads. They last very well, are well priced and have very good cranking power.

We have fitted electrex rr45 units inthe standard diode board mount with no issues,as said above you loose the warning light.
But they don’t seem to charge at lower revs,any better than standard.
Even with police spec voltage reg
On our specials we are just fitting the Emerald Isle 600watt kit, 14.8 v at idle
With a lithium battery

Thanks lads, my battery is dead and I need a good battery to test my old regulator but will possibly keep the std outfit if it tests out ok?.I am borrowing a spare to test it. Thanks again.
