Hi, I have a leaking front nearside caliper, the brake fluid appears in the splitting joint when squeezing front brake and retreats when releasing, I have read warnings about splitting these calipers, apparently distorting on reassembly, I have also read that its OK to do it?

I can get hold of a new o ring, I could also buy a used caliper but who knows state of pistons / seals?

Both my calipers had piston / seals replaced about 6 years ago

Recommendations ?? Techniques ??

Thanks

You have nothing to lose if it is already leaking. I would crack the bolts a bit at a time and opposite bolts if you get what I mean.

First things first. Have you tried tightening up the caliper bolts :D

Too late for that, caliper apart now:D .... bolts were tight when undoing, seal looks "Flattend" checked for distortion, none apparent, will clean mating surfaces and reassemble with new O ring.
