R1100 Splitting front caliper

Hi, I have a leaking front nearside caliper, the brake fluid appears in the splitting joint when squeezing front brake and retreats when releasing, I have read warnings about splitting these calipers, apparently distorting on reassembly, I have also read that its OK to do it?

I can get hold of a new o ring, I could also buy a used caliper but who knows state of pistons / seals?

Both my calipers had piston / seals replaced about 6 years ago

Recommendations ?? Techniques ??

You have nothing to lose if it is already leaking. I would crack the bolts a bit at a time and opposite bolts if you get what I mean.

First things first. Have you tried tightening up the caliper bolts

Too late for that, caliper apart now .... bolts were tight when undoing, seal looks "Flattend" checked for distortion, none apparent, will clean mating surfaces and reassemble with new O ring.
