On the basis that Ming never took the Ohlins deal any further ( well, I never heard a peep) can a standard rear shock for GSA be sprung with a heavier spring ?

If so can BMW do it ?

Or is it just a wasted effort, and buy an ohlins rear ?

I think the front is preety good, but the rear is awful when it gets warm .....

If its awful when it gets warm then the damping is gone. A stronger spring won't help. The unit is supposed to be non rebuidable but many suspension specialists can rebuild them. I know a bloke who can do it in NI but not in your neck of the woods!! :)

What sort of mileage would you expected them to "fade" at ?

My first shock, replaced by BMW, failed at 4k - the damping just disapeared with no leaks at all. The 2nd shock failed at 16k again the damping just vanished, unfortunatly, the bike was out of warranty. I've since lowered the bike with a Maxton rear shock and standard GS front - The Maxton is ok but the lack of a remote preload adjuster is a pain in the arse.

Makes you wonder why a fecking expensive bike like a BMW should have such shite quality shock fitted as standard? :spitfire
