Does anyone know if I can connect to the web while abroad with my wireless
enableable (if thats a word) laptop?
I have a laptop which can be wireless enabled.
I want to use it while away in Spain and France.
I am on AOL doalup.

Any help would be great.

Mike

Give me some wood any I'll turn it into a kitchen, give me a laptop and I'm hopeless.

If you find a free wireless hotspot (anything without secuirity enabled) you should connect right into the internet.

Your AOL account is unnecessary. I don't know if AOL email is able to be accessed from a web page, so may be worthwhile getting yourself a hotmail, or similar, account. That way you can read and send mail directly from a web page.

Practise at home with the wireless laptop to get some experience, find a local cafe or pub (or even a careless neighbour) that has a hotspot.

Like Iain says, find an unsecured 'hotspot' and you will get internet with your wireless gubbins enabled.
Regarding the AOL bit - once you are on the net - get onto www.aol.co.uk (or com) and sign on using your normal username and password and you will get access to your emails etc.

Iain & Cestria, thanks for that.
I have tried it, but it seems that I have a problem with Aol trying to block access.
I will contact AOL.

Thanks again.

Mike.
