Riyadh Rides - K1200RS!

Hi,
Had an unusual attendance at our ride today. Instead of motley crew, we had 11 new K1200RS - made me feel odd on the GS! Not a Harley to be seen!
30 of the K12's were sold at a VERY low price, US spec, '04 models, incl. cruise control. Great to see B'ems in serious numbers.

AbdulRahman's doing a good PR job. I fancy another ride to Riyadh to ride the back roads.
What's the chance of a floor to kip on instead of the Sheraton?

You guys are brave. I would never have contemplated riding a bike in Riyadh after hearing of the local habit of taking pot shots at bikers as they pass by. And the roads are as skittish as anything with all that diesel & rubber slime that builds up on them over summer. And the "local" drivers capabilities leave rather a lot to be desired.

I think I'd have stuck to tootling around in the safe confines of Arabian Homes!

You don't know what you are missing; and it ain't shrapnel. I have done 50k in the middle east with no problems. Night time is sometimes dodgy with marauding camels. Daytime is the craziest time and especially next week with the start of Ramadan. Hungry, thirsty and tired muslims driving around at speed.
