GS on the Moors

Image1-1.jpg

A lovely sunny Sunday afternoon and a trip over the Moors from Whitby to Helmsley. Got buzzed by half a dozen sports bikes so thought I'd go somewhere quieter!

Out in the sun today around Derbyshire :thumb2

My old (95/7) banger PD. Bog Standard.

Sorry but I don't seem to be allowed to attach files...

How do you people do it.

I spent 20 years riding a black and yellow one and liked it so much I looked out for the nicest pd I could find... Old GS was a fair bit quicker than this one. Probably due to fresh air system.

I thought I should join in and post some pics of my airheads - of course at the time I owned them they weren't called airheads as there was nothing else!

I have now been without a GS (or any bike) for two years now due to travel.

In Spain at the moment and it's raining so looking through some old pictures has made me nostalgic!

Later this year I should have somewhere where I can keep a GS - despite owning examples of most including a 1200GSA in the US for a couple of years I intend going back to a two valver!

In these pics is my first GS, an 800 that I bougt new in 1992, I put 50,000 miles on her in two years. The other is my PD that I bought a year old but sold it on as I got divorced!

Here is my 100PD in Belgium. And a shot the day I took delivery of my 800 - brand new, the dealer didn't have panniers in stock so I had to go back a week later.

We had just come down a bit of a knarly off road descent. Following me down was a mate that has only a stump where his left hand should be!! As soon as we got onto flat safe land I looked back to make sure my mate was following me.
As I saw his headlite safely coming thru the bush at the bottom I felt my front wheel slowly slide sideways off the bridge & eloquently stepped off the bike.

For the whole story I have done a bit of a writeup here.
