DRZ Tyres, the understanding of.

One thing I've never fully understood is tyre numbers and how they match up on the bike. For the DRZ defaults are:

Front tyre size 80/100 x 21
Rear tyre size 120/90 x 18

Am I right in saying any tyre that matches the third number (diameter) and which is within the speed category number can be used?

Don't rims come in the same sizes but different widths? If this was the case I'd expect not all tyres to fit.

And where the first number is in inches, e.g 3.50 how can you tell the wall height or does it not matter?

I think that they are the same as any tyre:

• First number is nominal width in mm
• Second number is aspect ratio in %age
• Third number is rim diameter in inches
