Need a sticker in both Czech Rep and Slovakia for motorways. We got stopped at a checkpoint on a dual carriageway in Slovakia and didn't even know it was a motorway! Buy the sticker in petrol stations.

Don't forget that the Vignette for Switzerland is only necessary if you use the motorway.

Last year Elvie and I got as far as Slovakia. Found several good campsites, all are on the blog. I'd particularly reccommend the sites in Krakov and Budapest.

Vignette in Slovakia and Czech Republic

I did some research on vingette for motorcycles in Czech Republic and Slovakia.
While it is clear that there's no payment for motorcycle required in the Czech Republic, Slovakia was somehow gray zone.

But I found directly in the law that motorcycles don't need vignette on Slovak highways unless they have sidecar attached (basically any motor vehicle with 3 and more wheels has to have the vignette).

For those stopped by local police asking for vignette (can happen ) - point them to law 135/1961, §6, section 2.

I hope this helps.

Im leaving to poland the 14th May and have to make it to the Tatra mountains in 2 days (my first time across europe on a bike)..... Im leaving the ticket home open as i dont know how long it will take to get back.

Then Germany/Poland/Slovakia in July/August... I havent got that planned yet. i want to go to the Ukraine but my dad wont let me go alone :( evil man lol.

I'm going east sometime after May, no idea of route or even duration of trip, just getting off at Calais and seeing where I end up each day.
I will have a day in Bratislava at some point so other former socialist countries will most likely be visited then eventually heading south to the Adriatic area.
