Hi

I have purchased a Hyperpro spring to go on the shock of my 09 F650GS.

I have removed the shock and attempted to compress the spring as per the great post for the GS800 but the spring will not compress with ratchet straps. (I think the coils are closer together??)

I have taken it to a number of bike shops & my usual car/bike mechanic but nobody in North Devon apparently has the ability to compress the shock to enable the springs to be exchanged.

James Sherlock cant do it, Irelands, Hedgehog all reckon their spring compressor wont work. I have been told that it may take a specialist tool to remove the circlip??

Is there anyone in the Bideford/Barnstaple area who could possibly assist me to swap the springs on the shock please? I have the shock off the bike at my home (the bike is in pieces with the rear wheel off atm in my brothers garage)

As MrJim says & FWIW have a grinder ready I used an old set of car spring compressors with the hooks top & bottom and had to reduce the size of them considerably to get them to fit in the space available but its the only way. Others may be able to recommend a specific set of clamps that work but it was all I had to hand. Amazing the pressure the small lip circlip holds.

Good luck with it :thumb2
