Help! Sump plug on 650
Just doing oil and filter change on SWMBO's new (to her) 650 GS. Following instructions on net.. sorted everything except removing 24mm sump plug.

Its in so tight its starting to round off!

Tried a hammer tap on end of socket bar... no good.

If no joy will there be much oil left in a dry sump? should i just settle for oil tank drain and new filter?

Bits all over the place in the garage.....

Cheers Bryn

try to tighten it a tad, just to break the seal. often works.

Run the bike for 10 mins to warm it up then hold an ice block on the head.

(of the sump plug  )

Then try it ;)

Hi Michael.. thought of that, got a six sided socket and a cordless impact wrench..

Just had a go.. and guess what...

Rouded it off completely. Obviously tightened up by a complete W*nker

Thinking now it aint never coming off..

filing down and get a different socket on?

Mate of mine on the way round.. Sez he has a trick. otherwise weld another nut on the nut....

Sorted! Had to hammer 2mm nut onto stripped 24mm original, then got it off

Knackered it totally though....
