Question if you don't mind please. If I receive e-mails on my iphone 3G, am I still vulnerable to viruses etc and if so how do you protect yourself?

I use mine for emails, gmail and hotmail, no idea if there is anything that is designed to attack the Iphone but just don't open anything you don't recognise

I forward all my email to Google mail which has a fantastic spam and virus scanner. I have had very little spam get through and I used to get hundreds. I then forward that to Yahoo mail which will 'push' it to the iPhone, or so it says, it is a bit hit and miss on the pushing though :( Not heard of any iPhone being affected by a virus.

Most viruses that use email as a vehicle are aimed to take advantage with vulnerabilities with Windows, so it is unlikely that the common spam / virus email will be able to comprimise your iPhone.

I also use gmail, so most of the email I get has the spam / viruses filtered out by default, of which has never let me down.

But let's not forget common sence, if you don't know the sender, don't open the email.

AFAIK there is still no virus that affects OS-X, a version of which runs the iPhone.

that is virus, as distinct from trojan of which there have been a couple lately. since they are embedded in hooky copies of iLife and supposed video codecs, you should come to no grief with an iPhone.
