Hi Cliff,
hope your new venture goes well - I noticed that you can move the panniers along a bit when not carrying a pillion -is this the case (pun intended !) . Sounds like a good idea.

centre of gravity

Hi Roger

You are correct, you can move the panniers (Oddyssey II and Safari II)forward on there mounts to improve your centre of gravity if you are riding solo

The Oddyssey II panniers can hold upto 105 litres (890mm/35" wide) and the Safari panniers can hold upto 115 litres,(990mm/39" wide) I dont know of any other panniers on the market that can match that capacity at the same width as the Jesse panniers, most are wider with less capacity

Cheers

When I saw you at the Ace Adventure day I knew I'd encountered your good self before and I think I've got it - I was at Framlingham last August and I do believe you were organiser-in-chief, excellent event Sir quite unlike what my preconceptions would have been.

As a Jesse owner I am also pleased ownership of these superb panniers has become so much easier for UK bikers.

If interest in my panniers at Framlingham was anything to go by you should have a lot of interest - I could easily have sold a couple of sets :D

Good luck with the venture Cliff :thumb

Thanks for the compliments about the Framlingham Rally, despite a few cockups behind the scene it went very well and everyone that attended seemed to have a good time which is what it is all about

Ace cafe was a last minute thing next time we will be better orgainised.

Cheers

Please help me to resist. Sarah will kill me if I buy those lovely panniers. :fiddle

I had a set on my 1150 GSA. Sitting stationary at a T junction in morning peak traffic, when a dozy car driver didn't see me and crashed into the back of me.

Bike took a bit enough impact... threw all 19 stone of me over the bars.

The Jesse panniers were fantastic. they absorbed the impact, the mounting bars bent a little, broke the sub frame of the bike, but the panniers themselves had minor war wounds. They are back on the same bike, hardly any noticeable damage.

The total amount of damage to the bike itself was a scratched engine bar and handguard on the r/h side and broken rear sub frame.

I got to keep the panniers, which were fine.... just needed mouting bars straightened in a vice and some new (unbent) mounting bolts. Had the bike been wearing the original BMW boxes, I have no doubt, it would have been an insurance write off.

I got an injury compensation claim within 5 weeks, so, sold the bike and replaced it with a 1200 GSA which was a year old and already had BMW boxes..... I wish I had the money, because I really want another set of Jesses for my new bike.

european mainland postage is a bit excessive which may put european buyers off.

i had a 10kg box delivered to germany few weeks ago from UK and it was £8

SwissRob, tell me who you used, I have got quotes from fedex dhl etc and al quote aboute the same for upto 25kg to Germany etc, they all offer 5 days for £100 plus abd about £175 for next day I did look at Metal mules website and Paul seems to charging similar prices so I assume is the going rate for weight and size.

Cheers

Cliff

Shipping is on volume and not weight so panniers are not cheap to be shipped:eek:

Look at DPD (Interlink) Europe Road Service. For instance they charge me something like €26 for 5Kgs to France plus €1.20 per 1Kg over that.

Essjay Thanks for the tip I have not contacted interlink yet and will give them a try but they all seem to be about the same price when I get a quote, I have just sent a set of panniers to Switzerland and it cost £126 with insurance for a 3 to 5 day service.

What happen to Auzzie Bob?

Good luck with venture. Good products that have gone slightly out of favour in the last couple years. Used to be the Aerostich of panniers on here.

Do you mean Kiwi Bob :)

I think it was the hassle of getting them into the country that was the problem... I had a pair ordered by Nick Marshall from Kiwi Bob.. good set of luggage with a hell of a capacity for the width :thumb
