Guys,

I've just been asked a question by my mate who has an HP2 Enduro and I'm stumped

he wants to know why the Remus headers don't have the cross pipe where the Akrapovic and standard pipes do.

anyone got any ideas?

I have no idea, but I have the full Remus system on the MM, and love how it looks.

The crossover pipe helps to maximise horsepower by using the exhaust pulse of each cylinder to help the exhaust flow of the other cylinder. Faster exhaust flow = more horsepower but there are restrictions around emissions controls and all that sort of guff, so manufacturers have to make the best of the situation their in. The Remus header is fine (and looks damn good) if it's matched with an equally less restictive exhaust canister than stock. Whatever you do, you'll get the best out of it if you use a hi-flow air filter as well.

You can be quite sure that if the cross-over meant more HP Remus would have retained it! My understanding is that it helps with low down torque.
The Remus headers are a larger diameter than OEM and so already flow more exhaust gases and presumable Remus tried the cross over as well and it made legligible difference. IMHO it has nothing to do with the emissions issue.

PS Have had two sets of the Remus headers (ceramic coated) coupled with the Genesis racing endcan and they are the answer. An endcan without the bigger headers makes virtually no impact on HP. And yes couple this with a K&N and a PC and you are cooking!

It is just so 'bitty', even though I've heard it said it is better made it looks like a Mecano mock up with all the welds, joins, springs etc. I've always liked clean and simple lines, and thats what made me go Remus, I just like the way it looks better. :hide

I agree and not alot of difference in performance really when related to cost.
