Also, dip and main beam were the wrong way round, so I had to ride all weekend with the light on main, although it was actually on dipped.

I'm currently looking to resolve this - I've a rally fairing which has two seperate 55W lights.
Connected up the right way main comes on for a few seconds then it shuts down with a LAMPF warning
Connected it up the wrong way (main = dip & dip = main) and the lights work albeit arse about face.
It's been suggested I check the earthing (I'll let you know how it goes)
talking with a BMW mechanic he said he thought the main beam may run outside of canbus not sure if that's releveant but I did wonder if it means I culd runa 100W main beam bulb.
