So, it's almost time to have my bike serviced. I'd prefer it go to a dealer as they can deal with any recalls, software updates and also the stamp in the book looks nice.

After looking on the web there are a couple of dealers I can go to, does anyone have any recommendations?

Wollaston Motors in Northampton
Roy Pidcock Motorcycles in Nottingham (Read some bad things about them)
Clarkes in Birmingham.

Unless of course I can b persuaded to go private if anyone has any good recommendations?

Bike is coming up to 16000 miles but it's the annual service it needs. It needs the steering head bearings doing, but I've only read bad/expensive things about BMW doing these so I'll do them myself along with replacement my problematic ignition micro switch.

Thanks - Dan

Adventure Bike Warehouse in Manchester. Search no more, go there and never regret it, ever.

Unless you're trying to give up coffee, biscuits and talking bollocks all day....:thumby:

Midlands is a big old place :D maybe a more precise location could help?

No to picocks, yes to wollastons, couldnt comment on clarkes :thumb

I know it's a bit far from you Dan but I swear by Benhams in Wolverhampton. They've looked after me really well.
I must admit that if my bike was out of warranty I'd take it to Adventure Bike Warehouse. Everyone raves about them on here.

Have a ride across to Rainbow, arrange a courtesy/loan 'bike and go into the Peak District for a spot of lunch .... it's a win win situation for ya :thumb

Treat it as a day out and not a chore ... then it becomes a win win win situation

Would seem Wollastons is your best bet unless you have a good reason not to use them. I live near pidcocks and wouldn't give them a penny.

Example: had mot (by them) got advisory for FD bearing play. I say it's under warranty so fix it, they say its fine? WTF took to independent he said needs doing so took back to Pidcock, told that play is normal we can't make it better! Long story short Wollastons sorted it under warranty.

Well Wollastons is booked for next Friday. I also get a loan bike which is quite exciting.

Let's see how I get on. They did suggest I do the fork oil too (Well in 2000 miles time) but I'm on a bit of a tight budget so shall do it myself for a fraction of the main dealer cost.

6000 mile service in England, Ireland or Scotland

Greetings lads
I am flying my F800GS to Europe from Canada in early July for 6 weeks of touring and will need the 6000 mile service while in the UK. Planning to hit the west coast from Plymouth (after crossing from France) , head on over to Ireland for a west coast ride then back across to Scotland, all the way up to the Isle of Skye. My guesstimate places me in the Glasgow-Fort Williams area near the 6000 mile mark.
Any recommendation as to where I should get my bike serviced in that area ? I would call 3-4 days in advance to schedule the service. I spotted Douglas Park Motorrad in Glasgow. Are they any good ?
Thanks y'all.
Bertrand

Well credit where it's due. Wollastons were great today.

Service completed, a nice chat to the service guy, Jack, really nice guy who also showed me around the new 800GS Adventure even though it was time to go home. All in all a really good experience.

They gave me a 700GS for the day, what a fun bike that is!
