Hi all,

After of bit of info chaps. I'm buying a zumo350. I have a gs1200 with a sat nav over clocks. Where can I buy a mount that fits the bar?

Thanks

I have the sat nav mount above the clocks.
I have this mount which fits the bar. see pic

My question is what do I need to connect the clamp to the sat nav?

Any ideas?

Thanks

nought everything you need should be in the box, incidentally you can use the ram mounts that come with the zumo and still get it above the clocks

I also have a 350LM. I prefer it mounted low and within reach of my left hand, so I put it above the handlebar clamp and below the speedo. I used a RAM ball that screws into one of the bar clamp sockets, and the RAM arm that came in the box.

Only just fits below speedo and clears small tank bag when turning the handlebars. I am able to angle the screen so that I don't get any reflected glare off it (aimed the reflection to the middle of my torso).

If only the power supply was as simple :blast

Power supply is the easiest part on a 1200...

You drop by your local BMW dealer (or online retailer such as NN).. and buy the connector that mates with the empty plug that is meant for the job of powering a GPS... cost me 18 euros from BMW.

(I didn't feel like lifting the tank again as it was full of fuel)

Unlike the 660, the 350 does not incorporate a built-in voltage converter. Bit shit really for a bike-dedicated GPS that costs £200 on top of what you'd pay for a non-waterproof one.

The 350 comes with a power cable that includes a 12v to 5v DC to DC converter brick and an in-line choke. Both of these are bulky. I suppose its meant for bikes where the power supply is going to be electrically noisy (I'm looking at you H-D). It is somewhat over-engineered for connecting to the ZFE-protected 12V supply at the GPS power socket. And rather bulky.

Anyway I did sort the power - but I used a waterproof Chinese 12V to 5V DC to DC converter I bought through eBay for £3, and cut the power lead that came with the 350.

Wish I'd bought a 660 for this reason :blast but the 350 does work well. Only gripe I have with it, is the 2D map view is almost useless, but that's lucky 'cos there is no easy way to switch between 3D view and 2D anyway.
