Siberian Extreme

Cole
I am heading to the Budweiser Bar- west side of Sukhbaatar Square
see you there.

and don't forget to tidy your side of the room- if you make it back today.

Does anyone else also feel they are intruding on a private conversation when reading this thread?

Tony
You're welcome to join in the conversation and I have a feeling the Budweiser bar would have suited you:beerjug:

yes, Cole did make it there after his steak and yes I was still propping up the bar and chatting to various people whilst drinking copious amounts of Tiger beer:thumb2
Cole had taken over the cocktail-making at a club the previous night:ChrisKelly - I'm definitely not letting him do that again.
and yes he did manage to tidy his side of the room :clap- which was lucky as we had four Japanese backpackers move in - to Cole's delight three of them are female.

Remember this??

Hi, Cole,

have just returned from Baikal - saw your sticker in Khujir, it's still there :)
Could not help adding one more :)

Well, I as I travelled through Siberia, I decided I would look out for that sign and add my sticker.

and guess what

I got the wrong bloody sign

I blame Timolgra's map - yep, the 1:8 000 000 rail road map that I scrounged off him - my shaky grasp of Russian place names was not helped by the dodgy map.

I was way up on tip-toes balanced on top of Thelma's topbox - and I thought that your two stickers had been blasted away by the local hunters...as someone had been using the sign as target practice.

then again, maybe I am not one to criticise in this area!

Sadly, due to being frozen in,in Astana Kazakhstan, the worlds second coldest capital city, where its already -15 and been down to -18 overnight, SibirskyExtreme will take a short break ... and be back in April !!!

Looking forward to next year's installment already. Enjoy your "break".:aidan

Its a bit of a bummer ... BMW was looking at putting the bike on their stand at the NEC show this year ... but kinda impossible now.

And I dont have a bike for 5 months.

It gets better. The longest customs extension I could get for the bike is April 3rd .... its only just getting thru 0 degrees the first week of april. If I am lucky it will be +5, if unlucky it will be -5.

Early Sibirsky Footage

I have compiled some of the early Sibirsky footage into a 2 part video of the past years riding. While not in Siberia you get a good idea of the route taken to get to the staging area that was Siberia. :thumb2

Is Walter planning to cross-post his latest reports here? I see that the return leg is now being posted on ADVRider. :thumb2
