seems the Dakar is a very popular model, had tried one but found it slightly high for me, here's mine

That's the dakar wheel in a set of 46mm forks of a yamaha off road bike. Waiting on a caliper relocation bracket and a abs mount, Forks cost £91 delivered and give me 2 inch extra travel, new axle was made for free :clap The abs and caliper bracket were nearly £200 from the us  Only other thing to buy is a new brake line at £30.

New front end for £320 - priceless ;)

I'll eventually fit some shorter dogbones on the rear (made for free too :thumb )to lift it by 1 1/2 inches and then I'll not be able to get on it :D

Should get the front end mostly together this weekend barring a couple of little bits like a new ignition switch mount :blast

My GS is a bit of a long story so I wont go into it in any great detail

I broke my arm on my DT125 @ 17, so instead of going for my test and a big bike, I put myself through my car test and got my own car and insurance. I must be :loopy

For my 21st, as I didn't have anything for my 18th, my parents bought me a 2004 F650GS (I'd been hinting for a while when they asked), as I had booked my Direct access for august (due to work commitments)

The moral is don't buy anything that needs fixing before use, especially not if your delinquent brother has the same thing, doesnt have a job and and is favoured by your dad.

As its likely to cause a £600+ dent in your pocket, and take about 5months longer than expected to get it on the road.

/sibling hatred rant on brother hasn't paid for any of his stuff, full bike test (@17), 3 bikes, insurance for 5years, the damage he caused to the GS, and now he's getting driving lessons paid for (there is no benefit to being well behaved/normal.) /end rant. :forry:forry

The other side has some damage I haven't fixed yet, covered in black gaffer tape on the front panel and indicators :( from me binning it on some gravel track with bearley legal Tourances back in May

Here are few photos of the Dakar i picked up recently . Its a 2001 with only 8000 miles on it . Local dealer took it in as a part ex and i got it VERY cheap . Since i have had it i have put a Scorpion end can , Hagon / Wirth fork springs , Touratech bashplate and front sprocket protector ,Chain and caliper gaurd of a German guy on Ebay for a third of the price of the Touratech stuff , new MT21s , changed the gearing to 15/49 and given it a complete service . Took it for its first play at the weekend , what a hoot .

hey Biking Viking :liv

I like the look of the bike with the lower mudguard fitted, looks great and if you can get it fitted i may be able to get one for my dakar :augie :D

Your as mad as me, I'm going wild camping around the north west of scotland over the new year, wouldn't dream of riding the bike offroad in the snow.

Hey RC Mad

I am going to spend some time:rob fitting the low fender, I might have to incorporate it with the shinguards but that is just some plastic welding, no problems at all:augie, but I am still using the 19" up front. :D but I like the way is looks.

The New Years day ride is actually an annual tour of the Beemer club up here... and an excellent way shake the hangovers of, I kinda would not like to do that ride fully sober:D

put these up in another section bust said better stick it up here too
