I had a very unhappy shopping experience with my local BMW dealer for my 10 000km service on my 12ADV ... Regular mechanic was off sick and they put another "capable" one on the job who did not do the valve clearances and who knows what else??? Fooker said he did but I could see the covers had not been off (I asked that the bike was not cleaned and the bolts still had dust and mud in them ) ... principal dealer made him do it again. On returning home (120km away) I did not feel comfortable with the whole experience and bike still felt 'off'and so I decided to redo/re-check the
service ... found all valves out of spec (do not think the LHS was done at all as I have HP2 gaurds and the bottom crash bar needs to be loosened and was no evidence of this) with one intake valve being 0.04mm!! Anyway I am ACTIVELY persuing this with Customer Services.

On checking the "secondary sparkplug" I found them to be black (not really sooty but black nevertheless) compared with the upper ones that were the correct tan colour. Firstly is this normal? And secondly why does the service schedule only call for checking of "secondary sparkplugs"?

Oh and forgot to say that they claim to have changed the FD oil - even though I did not ask and it is not on the service schedule... meant to be that 'oil for life' in a '06 1200. Now if they really did that puts my mind at rest BUT they should have asked or qouted a service bullitin calling for it. My understanding is '07 onward call for the FD oil change once at 10 000km.

Secondary plugs should not be black. Don't know why they check them only at first service, maybe it's cause they only fire at low rpm's and they need to make sure they are firing properly and the gap is set.

They should not have don't final drive oil without telling you first as it's not on the service schedule.

If I was you I would contact the dealer and ask for a re-service at their cost, telling them all the bits you think were not done and question why the FD oil was done
