I had to register an official complaint today with Mike Andrews at Bahnstormer after they sold me a K1300S two months ago. Why? Because I was so blown away by the new 2010 1200GSA that I know I bought the wrong bike and should have waited:blast

The new engine is a revelation with linear power across the rev range. I rode for 45 mins into Winchester and along the A272 and the bike, with ESA, was comfortable in town and ripping on the open road. Sitting at 40mph in sixth and its just twist and go to 100mph in no time at all. This rush is accompanied by a rorty exhaust note. The whole experience made the bike feel so different from the 07 GSA I put 22k miles on. I realise that this is subjective but the new bike felt lighter, more purposeful than my old one. Upon my return to Bahnstormer, I spoke to another rider who then took the same bike for a ride. His opinion and surprise echoes mine.

So, if you are looking for the complete bike (ie Morocco, Salisbury Plain, Nurburgring, daily grind, Sunday thrash, Easter Dash), the 2010 GSA is it.

Now, who'd like a fully loaded K1300S with 960miles...............:aidan

Yep, I've just come back from vines at Caterham. Deposit put down, grey GSA on order! Oh Gawd, not cheap. Break out the whisky .....

At last!

Does this mean that owners of the older and, obviously, much better ORIGINAL 1200 will be accepted into the land of poo & wee and can start harping bollox about how the build quality is inferior, its less torquey and that the can-bus/engine/drive train/gear box is made of silly putty and will self destruct in 5 miles...........

Sounds like a shite bike to me, give me a good, solid, old skoOl 1200 any day :P

I had a look today. I'm not sure what it is but there is an unsightly black box of an electrical nature attached to the exhaust. This is at the lowest point in the exhausts run and just below the rear suspension mount. There are two loosely routed cables coming out of it and I assume it will be part of the fuelling system.

The chances of this box surviving the first off road adventure with rocks / branches or a river are about zero.

One more step closer to the GS just being an S I think :augie

I thought it was a Foo Foo Valve :augie

Monitors the exhaust emissions apparently, is it something to do with the EU:nenau

Bollox, it's a valve that adjusts back pressure/silencing in order to give a 'rorty' sound and still pass emissions/db legislation..........bit like the vastly superior version fitted to the 04 & 05 1200's :P

Sounds good and I'm looking forward to my test ride. Pick it up next Saturday afternoon and return it Tuesday morning:ronno

I have a one on provisional order for March1, dependant on the test ride.:aidan

I'm gonna test ride one next week....................looked nice today and sounded fruity:augie

I am so glad I didn't go out for a test ride after Jeremy, John and Gaz on that bike :D

Took one out myself yesterday, the 12GSA. Roads were a bit greasy but I definately thought it was a better bike than mine,an '09 12GS. Not enough to make me order one but I'll certainly be having one later in the year. The motor feels a good 10% more powerful and sounds good too. A bit like my R1200S on a Remus with the baffles out.
****rpm through the tunnel under L/B Airport put a big grin on my face. It would'nt need an aftermarket can anyway. I liked it. :)

Pathfinder, nice to meet you. We'll stop by the boat next time we're in Skipton :thumb2

You could be waiting for me to come back or vise versa!

Thanks Jeremy for your positive comments on the new 2010 R1200GSA bike; it sounds too good to believe but I shall look forward to having a test ride on her one day soon. Like you, I have a 07 R1200GSA. I am reasonably happy with her but would have liked to have more power at the top end and especailly more torque at low revs from as low as 2000rpm. I did struggle with my bike whilst dealing with hairpin bends uphill in the Italian Alps last summer and had to "burn" the clutch at times to avoid stalling the engine when I negotiated some of the tightest hairpin bends at very low speed! At that time my bike was fully laden or rather overloaded with my pillion passenger, tank bag, aluminium cases and 100 litre luggage roll at rear end! Perhaps my bike should have had enduro first gear as this could have helped a bit more.

I did test ride 09 model before (105 BHP version) and only noticed the significant difference in that she did manage to go all the way to redline in top 6th gear whereas mine runs out of steam nowhere near its redline! ;)

However, I very much hope that this new 2010 GSA can solve all the problems I have experienced before since her torque curve from as low as 2000rpm is a huge difference from either 07 or 09 model. I would expect the new 2010 GSA to be "stallproof" in enduro first gear with lots of torque at hand! Can somebody confirm this???

Fastest one?

So, which is the fastest 2010 model?

"Smoke Grey Metallic" or "Light Yellow metallic" :augie

Also, If anybody picked up a brochure take a look at the picture above “Comfort Guaranteed”

Check out the plate on the frame above the gear lever? At last to stop the boot rubbing the frame??????????? :nenau
