Hi all

I am in the process of starting my own Carbon Fibre product development/distribution company, working with an established supplier in the UK. I'd like to gauge the reaction of GS riders because I may be able to produce some parts which I have never seen in CF for GS's before. From looking at my 1150 Adv I think I would be able to produce -

  • Clock Surround
  • Screen Brackets
  • Oil Cooler Guard
  • Beak
  • Adv Beak Tip
  • Hand Guards
  • Engine Cover
  • Front Mud Guard
  • Front Mud Guard with fenda extender built in
  • Cylinder Head Guards (in style of oem plastic)
  • Side Panel
  • Air Tube
  • Hugger

I know some of these parts are on the market now, and some not. I'll use this as a feeler to gauge interest. If anybody has an interest in getting these made, let me know. I don't know too much about 1200's so if any riders of these want to chip in with potential items please feel free too.

I have completely reproduced all panels on my Suzuki TL1000R. If anybody is interested in seeing pictures PM me because I can't post up pics on here.

Because most of the CF business swings towards sports bikes I know there might not be a market with GS's at all, if that's the case then feel free to tell me.

Good idea although the prices would have to be right.
One thing you could make is a front mudguard to take a 21" front wheel, I managed to find a cheap TT one but they're quite rare:)

I can't guarantee prices now but I can say that my Suzuki parts came in at about 2/3 of the price of the few parts I could find on the market - not that there is a lot!

the 21" mudguard would be do-able, is there much of a market for them then?

What about a front mudguard for those who have fitted 17" alloy wheels to their GS?

cylinder head guards, but with better coverage and protection than the OEM ones.

I don't want CF coz it looks good, I want it to offer protection / strength - so has to be a worth while investment.

At the moment I would say OEM coverage, unless there is a big market for bigger ones?

Also add to that the screen which sits between the windscreen and the clocks

The oil cooler guard sounds a good idea. I've seen loads of options on the market...but never seen one in CF.

Clock surround and screen adjusters and beak tip sound good too.

I like Carbon fibre on bikes in moderation....but I think that the products are a balance between cost and quality. I'd rather pay more for a well made, well fitting quality product rather than a cheaper badly fitting part....worst is an expensive badly fitting part!

Good luck with the venture..and I'm sure there's a market for cf bling for Gs's :thumb2

+1

A few people on the site have recently been asking where they can get someting that fits this description, & there are very few options available for 1100/1150's these days.

I'd certainly be interested in the 1150 silver front panel, but one that is slightly extended/angled so that I can ditch the original screen would be nice.

Off tangent, I am working on a project and I could use your CF. Can you give me a call on 07771960707.Robert

Sound's intriguing Robert, bit busy tonight now but I'll call tomorrow PM, that OK?

I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing as I was riding home in the gloom last night..

OK, I have a meeting with my prospective supplier this week. Which ever parts I produce initially will be OE items, before devoting too much time to developing customised items - this will be on the cards in the future if enough people are interested.

There may be an option to put together some discounted group buys in the future if there is enough interest in certain parts.

Thanks for the great feedback so far, it's really useful to understand what people want. Keep ideas coming for all models if you would like them. After my meeting I will post pics of the quality of the carbon. It's all Pre-Preg Autoclave so is amazing fit and standard.
