Mountain Equipment Wet & Dry Kit Bag

I'm thinking of getting the 70L version. The description on Cotswolds states 'waterproof tarpaulin fabric' however on another site says the zipper is NOT waterproof. How well would one of these fair on a long ride in the rain? I'm looking for an alternative to a top box/top loading dry bag.

Not well at all - we have the North Face equivalent and rain gets through, not just the zips but also the seams which are not taped/sealed.

Would not recommend if there is a good chance or rain, and/or you care about your kit staying dry.

My son is a kayaker, he swears by Ortlieb dry bags. I have to say that they get a real beating and haven't let him down.

Do a search for lomo water sports
They do some bags - easy loading decent quality good prices
Quite a few members use them

the NF "duffles" do leak, as i guess would the ME, they are not designed for bike use IMHO.
+1 for the Lomo bags. i have the 100L version (i have never filled it completely, the 70L sounds more sensible) and its very watertight in downpours. hasnt leaked ever. lomo prices are more sensible.
actually the lomo 20L dry bag straps nicely to the top of the zega style pannier.

Mountain equipment very good kit,but i use ortlieb bags always stays dry as long as you get proper lap over at the top of the bag then clip it up
