Xchallenge dived in lake.

Good morning, pals.
Yesterday it happens. Ice break and Bmw dive´s bottom of lake. Lucky day for me, I´m alive! Where its happens, deep is about 2-4 meters, and divers will come save my bike on monday. Bur what are you think, will I never drive my xchallenge? .

Sounds like a lucky escape...

My vote sasy the bike will run again.

...and of course we want pictures please: the lake, the hole, the recovery etc..
 
Make sure you dry the bike fully,as long as it hasn,t hydraulicked and bent the con rod, which i very much doubt, the bike will be fine.
Though you may have a soggy seat for a while :)
 
Totally submerged bikes can run again.
In the case of the XC, well, I reckon you will be busy for a few days but it will go in the end.
The main areas for concern are draining the engine/tank of oil/water/emulsion. Use a diesel engine oil to refill system. This is fine to clean/flush out lube system.
Drain fuel tank totally and add new petrol.
Take Airbox off and clean dry.
Sparkplug out and flush out cylinder with WD40.
The instrument panel needs to be dry too, water ingress is a show-stopper.

It will restart eventually.
 
When you eventually get to turn over the engine, do the first try with the spark plug out.
Dont do what my mate did which is park it up for four years :)
 
Hello Antti. Its happened in Kokkola, öja-järvi (Öja-lake), under the bridge.
Bike is still under water, divers will be there monday and then we get it up. We can use bridge to help pull-up. You can read later more on kurapyörä-foorumi and MP-maailma magazine.

Rushy, good luck, I have not need to swim. I just step up on BMW and stand on ice and look slow sinking. Finally, when I didn´t see my bike enymore, only bubbles raise on lake surface... Good luck, I didn´t get wet. I think Ixs suite will come VERY heavy filled with water...

Apologies, but during my time working with engineers in finnish papermills, when ever there was a real problem, the 'v-v' phrase was used in abundance! :D

Have had my HP completely submerged, albeit briefly - a minute or 2.

Popped the plugs and air box, drained the exhaust and she fired right up and rode home. Did have to do several oil changes to clean the engine out tho.
