BMW Dealer locations as .gdb files

I have recently purchased a Garmin 2820 unit rather than a BMW NavIII, but of course one misses out on the Dealer database that is part of the BMW units software.
I have therefore constructed my own POI database for European dealers.
Working with some existing POI lists, I have then logged onto each countries BMW website and verified the name and location of every dealer. I did this for all countries except France and Spain, though I suspect they're quite good to start with (and I'd already spent at least 20 hours of solid work on the computer). I had to make quite a few name and/or location changes, especially in Germany, Italy and the Western part of Switzerland.
I am happy with the results.
These are attached as .gdb files as .csv files are not allowed.

Thanks for the hard work John

I've made this thread "sticky" so it stays at the top of the GPS forum

Are you releasing it or is it for your own personal use? Sounds like a very handy bit of software

Releasing it, once its finished that is ;-)

Takes my ancient laptop ages to compile them & I need to make sure they work on Mapsource etc so it'll be while yet.

The idea is to sell the mapset for US $50 & share the profits with http://www.magpas.net - keeps my tank topped up & helps their fundraising.

There are some early versions of the maps on http://www.smellybiker.com you can play with, they cover most of the UK.

The test maps are not routable yet but it'll give you an idea, they're untested so if they break anything you get to keep the peices.

Cheers,

Bob

I'm going to Clarks in Rednal this week, so I opened your file and notice that there are two BMW dealers shown for Clarkes. There's the Garmin one and there's your waypoint. The Garmin one looks correct to me, I usually come up Ashill Road from the A38 and turn Right. Your waypoint would direct me away from Clarks. For your info... cheers

Would you consider adding independent BM* specialists ie Steptoe and RGM - or maybe as a separate POI database?
