And mounted them on. They came from Ireland to Estonia in 4 days(!) And that with slower post-service option.

The quality of panniers is first class. So far i love that stuff, they feel so consistent-precise and secure when you close them, feels like submarine's door :D - the lid just melts in and sure they look like ultra-waterproof.

Will do a longer testdrive tomorrow...

They look great margus ...

Will be interested to know how you get on with them, they are my favoured option also

How heavy are they? I would like to buy some Alu cases and racks but weight is the big issue.

These cases look robust but slightly over engineered, by the look of it if you were to trash the Zega cases they would be easy to beat back into shape. How do you think these would cope with dents and deformity?!

if they are easy to beat back into shape - then by the same reason they are easy to dent in the first place
I know what i'd rather have....

nice one civil, nice one son.....

ps glad you took some advice there :thumb

Keep it up Civil.

(At this rate BMW won't be going to TT to source panniers for the 1250/1300GS Adventure in five years time :thumb Start planning where you will mount the roundels now!)

As all alus, they're very lightweight and strong. Didn't measure the weight, but compared by hand with my previous System Panniers that fit 25/30 litres and Caja Sahels fiting about 40/42 litres - they are about the same weight class.

Over engineered - hmm... i don't think so. They're very simple and bombproof compared with relatively fragile Zegas (at least 1.5mm Zegas seem to be more fragile for me and also if you read different feedbacks, then in real conditions Zegas may dissapoint you, that's why i looked for something else). You can bend back any wrecked alu case the same way. Sure they'll cope with dents and deformations as most of others having simple design.

Margus

I'm sure that even if they were as much as 4 or 5 pounds heaver in weight the strength you would have gained would be of far greater use than the weight saving.
I may have give Civil some constructive criticism for not giving enough details and price options when he posts about his panniers.
but they do look stronger than most of what's out there, and no doubt in time feed back from actual buyers like Tsiklonaut will prove this.

i would thing less about the weight and more about if they are fit for the purpose you wish then for and that they last the course.:)

I've just seen Tskilonaut's accident thread, it's answered my question pretty damn well I think! This is possibly the best publicity (unfortunatly in the worst circumstance) Civil could ever get. All the best to Margus!

Agreed, but I don't think they will be 'beaten back into shape' easily, probably better to get the damage cut out and new metal welded in. Same goes for his poor GS too, glad Margus and his good lady both lived to ride another day.

6.5 kgs each, how does that compare to some of the better known brands?

I copied it out of a review of Ali panniers in July's issue of Touren-Fahrer, a German bike magazine.

They did a six page review of eight makes of ali pannier, a bit like the giant gear tests "Ride" magazine do.

I might scan it and put it in a seperate thread.

Oh do try and keep up Roger!

From you own information:

H&B Expedition 45 = Volume 43 Litres

Unless '45' is just a catchy name for the pannier and bears no relation to a claimed litre-age

Otherwise Sale of Goods Act (as amended) for product misrepresentation :D

Ahh I see :thumb

Yes I've been robbed of them litres, your right. I didn't realise I had a couple missing :)
