£30,000 - surely a big ask ?

Probably genuine, probably better than it left the factory…… but is it really worth £30k?

Not to me even if I had won the lottery.

FWIW I've seen this bike in the flesh, in its dining room. I can't comment on the price but the bike is probably better than new. It came from a collection in Austria or Switzerland. So I guess I'm saying it's genuine.
Thanks tim it’s now on the road and I’m using it sparingly on nice days .. with other G/s to use no point using a lot more.

Absolutely....just a few 'airheads'.....with sufficient money to chuck at this...that they really can't ride as its value will plummet...pointless museum piece then...
Using it now and again just taking it off the road for winter months .

I know nothing of the bike in question,
However,if it’s a genuine factory PD,it’s worth a fair bit more to the right buyer at the right time.
I’ll admit,I’m no anorak on these things as I can’t be arsed, but I do know how much it costs to do a proper resto.
Exactly just over a year ago a UKPD was bought for 15k it had a further 15 K spent on it..that’s 30k you know that Bike Mikey..😉

When you look at the new R 12 G/S fully loaded that bikes 20 K 10 years time you might get a couple of grand of that back these early mono G/s that started it all off will always have a following… and retain a good value imho.. but forgetting value they’re just so much nicer to ride and a darn site lighter ..

The seller is either on some stron drugs or completely out of touch with reality
It’s no longer for sale as I’m occasionally using her ..as a matter of fact I have just sold my UK one for £19000 plus .. re commissioned but unrestored ..and no drugs matey .. how’s that for a reality check?

The guy only bought it in November, and it was a bike he always wanted, According to that facebook site, I wonder if he paid similar?

Surely strong money for a rebuild. what would an Original, unmolested low miler be worth?
Well this unrestored example sold 2 weeks ago 12 oct 2025…..for £25500 … and you can add on 5% import duty if you want to bring that in the UK. and if you’re going to use this one, it will need to be totally recommissioned … as Mikey boy will tell you..add on £££..

Very nice, but if I was spending anything approaching that sort of money I’d rather have something that’s been through Mikeyboy’s hands!
Thanks 👍
I think Mikey boy and certainly Gary Burton know the guy that built this bike he is 2nd to none… I bought my other PD now sold off Gary .. I know their workmanship.. 👏it’s also very good.. but the paint finish and attention to detail on this is better than anything you’ve seen before.. I can honestly attest to that.. and the Bike is only now done 300 miles since rebuild.. a couple of hundred more before I tighten down the heads..

No patina, no joy. Keep it.

I saw a dented and scratched old Porsche Targa come past me as I sat at the lights today in dull Matt green driven by an old fella with (presumably) his wife riding shotgun and thought to myself wow, that’s a well used and enjoyed car, fair play to them both.
Which is what every one of us do, when we go and buy new bike/car. We get it to enjoy it (not to stare at) but to drive/ride it. What’s the pin t I. Spending thick end of a wedge on a vehicle only to be sat worrying about its value in a decade or two. Fucking get in/on it and go have a jolly good time, just like this fellow and his shotgun missus in said Porsche. Good on them!

Thanks 👍

Lucky someone then! (y)
