£500 voucher to spend.

Just as good as a 2nd hand BMW Navigator IV off ebay for 1/2 the price.

If you are thinking of buying the GPS for your RT 2014 LC (I assume that's where the £500 comes from) then buy the Mk V as it is especially designed for the new RT and has more menus than the Mk IV. I have both Mk IV & Mk V and prefer the Mk V on my new RT (got it back today!). You can roll the LH control wheel on the handle bar and find more menus. The Mk IV doesn't respond to the hand wheel with so many menus especially the GPS controls.

Also the new Mk V uses NTU maps - the Mk IV still uses NT maps.

Safe riding,
Mike

Hi Mike, I have the nav iv and a RTLC. From memory the only things the wheel does is swap between 3 screens? And zoom in and out on the map
What extra functions can the wheel operate on the nav v ?

Normally yes, but not when its time for map updates. :blast

My second device went well... The first is proving more, shall we say, challenging.

To answer the OP's question. I (a complete IT numpty) have used GPS devices from their first incarnations, when they were little more than revved up hand held 'organisers' with extras. I have probably clocked up 300,000 miles with them in one variant or another. Leaving aside its oddities, I must say that the Nav V is the best overall device I have owned, no question at all.

I see they have done a nice job of stopping you from using RAM mounts on it, no where to bolt anything.

The holes for the bolts on the Nav V's cradle are in the same places as the 660 and 550.

I mounted my cradle using a Ram mount.

Or use glue.

I was aware the £500 voucher had to be used by end of December, but I didn't realise you had to spend the whole £500 in one go? Only found out today whilst at dealership.

I pick up my bike early next week and can't wait, but have to. I am surprised that BMW has given £500 voucher to be spent in BMW Dealership in the UK, when across the pond they have all received $2500 check as compensation no restriction on where or what you spend it on. It says a lot for what BMW think of us :comfort there there be grateful we sell them to you:nenau

Probably because our American cousins are much more litigious in nature, hence the enhanced compensation package... :bash

Really? I was told the BM have told their dealers that it can only be used against accessories / clothing. My dealer certainly wasn't happy about that.

Not the point really, surely they must know that we know the compensation is different and by a difference and I mean a substantial and significant difference. I am happy that I missed the whole fiasco and hopefully I do not fall foul of any mechanical issues:rob not many riding days left I feel
