I dropped the forks as far as the raised part of the slider would let me (at least 20mm) with no adverse effects. It sharpened up the steering a bit too. I'm now looking for a cheap way to lower the rear - any suggestions?

Its allways worth having a ride over and asking at your main dealers about warranty even if to rule it out but you might be suprised :thumb

Then after that, other than recovering blob of the clear stuff you mentioned and Duct tape :nenau and a diet :blast oh and sit still be gentle :nenau

It's a shame I didn't notice it before, I was at my dealer's yesterday!!

I had a similar issue with mine. I noticed that the stitching in the 'bucket' part of the seat was pulling.

Seat was swapped by NOG no problem.

But what about width?

I've got the bike sorted heightwise by having the pre-load at about 3ish clicks (ok for my weight) and dropped the forks by an inch and with Daytona boots can have feet on floor nicely.

I tried a Corbin seat and it is too wide, not bad with feet on pegs but have to slip my bum off the side when putting a foot down and putting both feet down pulls on my hip joint not just the muscles and if I sit in the comfy hollow bit made for your bum, I can't reach the bars :tears and I'm not exactly petite either...

Any ideas on the comfort solution for a smaller rider not just a shorter one?

Hello all,

My lowered seat seems to have lost it's spring somewhere over the last 10K and it starts to get a little painful after a few hours worth.

I'm looking for an aftermarket seat upholsterer whom i can visit and work out how best to get my seat back to what it was. I know there are aftermarket comfort seats however i don't want anything higher.

I'm aware of Viking Vinyl, Tony Archer and Digger but these are quite a distance from me down Reading way. I've found a few in London but would prefer somewhere with GSer approval...

Rally seat GS 800

Hi,

29 pages read and very little mention of the higher rallye seat available from BMW for the 800. Does anyone have any experience to share?

Although really not a fan of the grey strip down the middle, at a lofty 6'3" i could manage the extra height hoping it will make a more comfortable riding position as currently my (padded) knees press into my adventure spec bars and I feel i could sit a little further forward on the bike.
Seems the seat isn't offering any more comfort in make up of gel or foam but hope the extra height between seat and peg will help. Assume I will still need to don my cycling shorts if riding more than an hour.
Any experience with this specific seat or similar height alternatives appreciated, tried a Touratech the other day that gave a little more elevation and for sure more comfortable. Cut at the front of TT saddle pretty poor compared to standard, you could see edging of panels that you shouldn't, shame.
Prior apologies to any height restricted tossers for my elevation.

I have one, I am about 6'6".
I like it because i can move back a little on the seat without the ridge that some of the other seats have. When i have ridden all day i am generally looking to stop for the sake of my butt before i am out of petrol. about two hours-ish.

So thought I'd add an update to my previous re rallye seat.
Money well spent, I love it!
I have adventure spec crash bars and therefore with my height I was always restricted going any further down and forward on the saddle to where I should be by thankfully padded knees. Now with the rallye I'm sat higher and further forward. Knees can release and I've wound 6 full turns off my preload taking the bike back to where it should be.
Wasn't a fan of the grey strip down the middle at first but with the benefits of being 2" higher I'm absolutely sold.
In sum if your 6' 2" plus running adventure spec bars I'd consider the rally seat a must.
Apologies again to the vertically challenged that saddle up with a step ladder or look at lowering options.
