02 1150 possible exchange to 800 or transalp

Oh please help me i i have an 02 BMW 1150 Gs and i love it apart from the weight and height. I love using it on the open road but for short journeys it becomes a big lump to get of the garage turn around etc etc. I have been considering and may regret down sizing. This were my options.
Honda transalp 700cc or the bmw 800 still seems tall (I'm 5 foot 9") re the spec.
as anyone else had the problem and doubt or am i being plain stupid and should keep the 1150
i just want a nice two up bike that is used in the summer and cover around 6000 miles a year.
God i just don't know what i want???????????????????

OK...I've has an 1150GS, and a 700TA.....

I changed for exactly the reasons that you want to change.

The TA is a great 'bike, and much lighter than an 1150...easy to move around....great (unobtrusive) ABS brakes...unbelievable fuel economy...Everything works 'tickety boo' Honda style.....

However, remember....these are not made in Japan, they are made in Spain, and it shows.....Can't put my finger on it, but It's just not like a Jap' Honda. I'm sure that Honda spec' (supply ) machine tools and materials etc, but It's not made like any other Honda that I have owned....(lost count...honest)

Also, one thing that really put me off it, It doesn't have tubeless tyres....spokes, but not BMW spokes....I had a puncture on the 1150, miles from anywhere, at midnight, with a deadline (ferry)....quick blast with a plugger kit and I'm off.....Not so (for me) with tubes.

Since I sold my 1150, I have had a 1200 and the TA....Both were great 'bikes, and both were used on serious Euro' tours, but I wish I had never sold that 1150.

Same as above, had both. You will regret selling the 1150 especially if you do a lot of two up riding. I regretted selling mine but was using the sale money for something else.

I'm the same sort of height. And got my F800GS just over a year ago. Although taller than the 1150 it is really light, so no bothers at all. I think if you get the transalp you'll feel second best, as if you've made do.
