18k service due.:( Knew it'd be a couple of bob:tears, as need mileage AND annual service and also thought I should get clutch and brake fluid replaced as they are 4 year replacement items as I understand it and not previously replaced according to service book (I'm 2nd owner as of Oct 06).

All in, I've been quoted £464 inc VAT :eek:eek:eek by Crewe BlueBell. Spoke to a very helpful chap while in there and also v pleasant chap on the phone. Also read some nice comments about BlueBell on here, as I recall. Been given a full written breakdown of the price (not all that easy to follow, mind).

Still a ton of cash for servicing though, or am I just being Captain Tightwad (again)? Never even spent that much on a car service - EVER, I don't think.

Observations and suggestions wlecome from Oracles of Knowledge hereabouts, altho' DIY not an option :o - was beaten with spanners as a child and been afeared of em since.:)

Look up Roy Gardner near Preston.

Top service, fair price and not to far from you.

Mike

In my case it was the cost of a basic service kit from Motorworks and £30 for an ex BM mechanic (and GS owner ) to do the tappets and TB balance. The latter mostly cos I could not be @rsed.

As opposed to £240 which I was "quoted" by the local franchised dealer. I may get the 24k service done by the lfd but I hae ma doots.

i bought mine in the spring and did the 24k miles service in the first week, oil, filters, moved the fuel filer outside the tank, brake and clutch fluids changed(they are 2 year change iirc), alternator belt, tappets, balance throttlebodies, cost about £80 in parts, took about 3 hours, ok it may not have the stamp, but my nearest dealer is over 100 miles away :thumb
